Climate action is the urgent and coordinated effort required by governments, businesses, and individuals worldwide to address the escalating crisis of climate change and its devastating impacts. It encompasses two main strategies: mitigation, which focuses on rapidly and deeply reducing greenhouse gas emissions (especially by phasing out fossil fuels and transitioning to renewable energy), and adaptation, which involves taking steps to prepare for and adjust to the unavoidable current and future effects of warming, such as building resilient infrastructure and developing drought-resistant crops. To secure a habitable planet for future generations, this action must be transformative, prioritizing the global goal of limiting warming to 1.5oC above pre-industrial levels and recognizing that environmental, social, and economic well-being are fundamentally intertwined.
